Rotmandlspitze Summit Tour

A summit tour to Rotmandlspitze summit to the historic mining district in the Schladminger Tauern range with beautiful views to Giglachsee and Duisitzkarsee Lakes.

This alpine tour takes you from Dusitzkarhütte chalet and Keinprechthütte chalet in Obertal valley to Ursprungalm.

On the way, you will see picturesque Giglachseen lakes in the fjord-like Giglachkar cirque, Giglachseehütte and Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte chalets offering refreshments there.

You continue on into Vetternkar cirque where you encounter the remains of miners' housing. From there, the alpine trail takes you up to the summit of Rotmandlspitze summit offering great views to Giglachkar and Vetternkar cirques with several lakes.

Remember to hike with the appropriate gear on the trek! The right footwear is important in the mountains! Also rainwear and head-cover as well as a small energy food must be included in the hiking backpack! This is the way and nothing else can stand in your exciting day!

Hiking Tip to Spiegelsee!

Enjoy the unique landscape! Start the short hike from the parking place at the Gasselhöh hut or take the lift from Preuneug cable car, which takes you the top - free with Summer card. Follow the path no. 66 into the forest direction Spiegelsee.

You can comfortably hike along the broad hiking path, along the heights between Rippetegg and Gasselhöhe. After 45 minutes you reach the picturesque Spiegelsee, and a few minutes further you will discover the Obersee.

Why Spiegelsee? The massive glacier Dachstein is reflected on the water surface. A sea of flowers and plants decorate the paths!

Steirische and Lungauer Kalkspitze summits via Kranzl

rewarding mountain hike with some exposed trail sections between the Kranzlhöhe ridge and Meregg summit. From the Akarscharte, the Lungauer Kalkspitze peak is suitable for families while the Styrian Kalkspitze peak is for experienced hikers only! The landscape is dominated by the two limestone peaks that bring a special alpine flora with them. Along the way, Ursprungalm chalet (at the starting/finishing point) and Giglachseehütte chalet offer refreshments for you.

You ascend through high alpine forest and then leave the trees behind. Once you reach the mountain saddle the trail to Steirische Kalkspitze summit branches off left. The trail now leads through high alpine terrain with very steep passages. Also on the last view meters to the the peak you have to be very surefooted.
